5,500 hectares for the future.

For several years, we have been managing our own forestland in New Brunswick, Canada, through the KSM Forest Carbon Project .

Across approximately 5,500 hectares, we focus on long-term forest management. Instead of relying on large-scale clear-cutting, we support more diverse and resilient forest structures and help restore the natural Acadian Forest ecosystem .

Forests do not change by the quarter. They change over decades. For us, that means allowing stands to grow longer, selectively harvesting individual trees, and managing the forest with a long-term perspective.

The project is now registered under Verra’s Verified Carbon Standard (VCS) Program . This marks another step toward generating certified carbon credits.

Kluthe at AMB 2026: Clean parts are the result of a well-matched process from start to finish. What remains on a part after machining directly affects how well it can be cleaned afterwards. That’s why we don’t look at individual products in isolation. We look at the entire process. Which metalworking fluid is being used? What residues remain on the surface? And how can the part then be cleaned and protected reliably? At AMB, together with BvL Oberflächentechnik GmbH , we’ll demonstrate how metalworking fluids, parts cleaning, and corrosion protection can be aligned to work together. We don't just talk about it in theory; in our technical center, we recreate the entire process under real-world conditions, from machining and cleaning to corrosion protection. Visit Kluthe and BvL at AMB to see how the process comes together in practice!

What happens to the oil that ends up in a cleaning bath? During parts cleaning, tramp oil inevitably makes its way into the bath. If it remains in the bath, it can gradually affect cleaning performance and shorten the bath's lifespan. In this episode, we demonstrate how demulsifying cleaners can help. The oil separates from the cleaner, collects on the surface, and can be more easily removed. This results in less tramp oil circulating in the system and a cleaning bath that remains effective for a longer period of time.

How can operators curt energy and chemical usage without putting the process at risk?
That question is on the minds of many people responsible for industrial surface treatment processes. Energy, chemicals, waste, carbon footprint, and costs are putting pressure on existing processes from several directions. At the same time, the line has to keep running. Every day. Corrosion protection, quality, and process stability have to hold up in real production. At the ACE Coating Conference , we picked up exactly that discussion: How much of the process can you change before you run into problems? Where do real savings come from? And which levers only work when they fit the line, the component, and the quality requirements? The practical examples from the agricultural machinery industry showed that the biggest lever is rarely a single product property. What matters more is how pretreatment, energy use, chemical consumption, waste, carbon footprint, and stable process control work together. Companies that want to bring their pretreatment process forward need to look at the entire process — not just the product in the bath.

What happens in a cleaning bath can be measured.
After covering the basics of water-based cleaners in Episode 1, we now take a closer look at the process itself. A cleaning bath provides plenty of clues about whether it is still performing as intended. In Episode 2, we look at what concentration, pH, conductivity, temperature, foam behavior, and other key parameters can tell us about bath condition—and how they help detect changes early. That turns “it still looks fine” into informed process control.

Working with chemicals means a lot of different things can go wrong, and each situation calls for a different response. Procedures on paper only get you so far. What matters is that both sides know the site, know each other, and know what happens in the first minutes. That is what a drill like this gives us. The crews get familiar with our conditions on the ground, and we see how communication, site access, and our own procedures hold up. Kluthe at the FIRMENCUP 2026, Hockenheimring. Around 17,000 runners and inline skaters at the start, our team right in the middle of it. Good organization, strong performances on the track, solid support from the sidelines. Exactly what team spirit looks like in practice. Thanks to all colleagues who organized, ran, skated, and cheered. #KlutheFamily
